We are off on Saturday 19th for 12 days on the west coast, we fly to Launceston, first day in and around Launceston, ferry trip on the Tamar River and the Zoo, then self drive to Stanley on the far northern tip, then Cradle Mountain (all 1 night stays. Then we drive to Strachan (3 nights) lots to see around this area, we are doing a trip on a ferry and a steam train trip (both all day trips) then we are off to Hobart for 4 nights. We are doing a Ferry Trip/Port Arthur Penal Colony on a day trip (will be very busy), a day trip south of Hobart through the Huon Valley, hopefully to the southern tip - the closest you can get to Antarctica without being there. We are all getting very excited.
It has been a very interesting summer here in Oz, starting
with a small Cyclone at Christmas, which became the wettest Queensland season on record, this of course lead to those dreadful floods all over the qld regional and eventually Brisbane areas. AND then of course there was "Yasi". For days it hung around out to sea, then tormented us all with its huge size and it was heading straight for us, due to cross the coast between Cairns and Cardwell, which meant we would cop the eye over the Tableland area - in all the time I have lived in north queensland I have never seen everyone prepare for the event like they did this time - it certainly put the fear into all!!! But a few hours before it was due it changed course ever so slightly and devastated areas from Innisfail to Townsville, especially Tully and Cardwell. We still had a big blow though - pretty scary, but because it was only 3 years since Cyclone "Larry" (as lot of the bigger trees were destroyed then) there was not the devastation to the vegetation on the Tablelands, I had 3 rather large Palms in my backyard destroyed, but Larry had weakened them, so was just a matter of time before they died anyway. AND It is still raining - maybe we need to build an ARK!!!!
We all went out last night for dinner to celebrate my birthday, was a lovely evening, but oh so full of food. The boys were very entertaining as they always are when they get together.

I am glad to hear from you. We were somewhat worried about you after the floods with the hurricane getting this close to you. It is our 41st wedding anniversary today so we are going to have a drink tonight. Roy says that he had a Moxham ancestor at Port Arthur Penal Colony, so take a few photos for him, if you can!
